International Day of Persons with Disabilities December 3, 2025
Every year since 1992 the world sets aside one day to reflect on the world wide experience of disability. For the past 20 years Barrhead has spent the day
Barrhead is a wonderful place to live. We continue to work hard at being an accessible community. Thank you.
Accessibility means making sure everyone can use and be part of places, services, and activities, no matter their abilities. This includes things like ramps for wheelchairs, easy-to-read signs, quiet spaces for people who get overwhelmed, or having videos with captions. It’s about removing barriers so people aren’t left out. When things are accessible, more people can join in, feel welcome, and fully take part in their community.
Accessibility is the infrastructure; inclusion is the culture that grows from it. The more we listen, learn, and adapt, the more we see how much further we have to go — not because we’re failing, but because awareness expands our understanding of what truly being included means.
See you there
